This Christmas, Peter Jackson will bring us another insight into the mind of J. R. R. Tolkien, and it will have the form of the second -Zzzz- instalment in The Hobbit trilogy.
Trilogy that could have stayed as a two-film thing, but apparently we are all going to pay to see the three of them anyway, so they might as well make three and get thrice the profit, am I right?
I enjoyed An Unexpected Journey, and I am assuming that I will feel the same way about The Desolation of Smaug -who brings Legolas back, so yay-, buuuut, there were so many scenes from the first film that were not that necessary, and it is going to be the same with the next two. And to be honest, I remember that a lot of things happened, but vaguely, so I think this new film should have some kind of “Previously” right before it starts.
So instead of trying to depress you all with my complaints about the length and number of films being made about this book, I will just let you watch the trailer. Orlando Bloom! Luke Evanssss! Kate from Lost! Richard Armitage showing off his cool voice! Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch back together through the magic of green screen!
To be fair, it does look like it is more action-packed. Still, I will have my dose of Diet Coke and Red Bull before entering the movie theatre. Just in case.
And since I am reminiscing right now, I will end this post with the beginning of the best scene in the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Battle of Helm´s Deep from The Two Towers. Enjoy!
I think I will be bored by the second one (well actually I was bored by the first crap one). Will anyone even bother by the third movie? Let’s just watch the original trilogy. Much better. 😉
PS: Helms Deep is the best!
