People of England, brace yourselves, because the awaited sequel of the 2004 -geez, time flies- successful movie is soon to be released. On December 18th, Ron Burgundy and his team return to the big screen.
Is it possible to be this ridiculously excited about a comedy sequel? Apparently, yes it is, maybe because it has been almost a decade, and not a year or two, as it usually happens. This means that we’ve had time to grow fonder of Burgundy and his men, the silliest quartet of journalists the world has ever seen.
It is strange, because Will Ferrell has the “ability” to swing from really good to extremely crappy comedies, but Anchorman is definitely a golden one. It wasn’t that much appreciated back then, you could say, but it has become a classic of sorts, and the highly publicized sequel has only made the legend bigger. I hope they paid a lot of money to the marketing team, because they did a hell of a good job.
As a journalist, I have always rejected broadcast -and yes, I have worked there, so I know what I’m talking about-, but I would definitely go back to it if I had the chance to work with a team like the Channel 4 News Team.
PS. Tina Fey and Kristen Wiig are also on the film. What more could we ask for?
PPS. And Liam Neeson, and Sacha Baron Cohen, and Luke Wilson -who “lost” an arm in the first film-, and Harrison Ford, and Jim Carrey…
