I am quite sure that I am not the only person in this world who doesn’t consider New Year’s Eve as a special night. Don’t get me wrong, I have my traditions and I will always keep them , but I am not talking about that.
It is more about the fact that I am forced to have more fun on this night than on any other night of the year for no reason at all, which tends to end in disaster, because forced fun is the worst kind of fun. I am convinced I will have much more fun and stay up for a longer period of time on any other night of the year.
When I was 15, 16, 17, etc, this night was something I looked forward to and I would decide my outfit weeks in advance and all the things you would expect from a teenager. Today, I still haven’t decided what to wear but I know two things: I will not overdress and it won’t be black. Nevertheless, I will have a great time because I will be surrounded by the friends I have been going out with for more than a decade now, so not everything has changed!
In fact, as it was ten years ago, my role model for this occasions is still Ms Bridget Jones, so let’s all think about her tonight and honour her strong-willed mind when it comes to accomplish New Year’s resolutions.
Happy Bridget Night!
