Doctor Who 9×09 Review: Sleep No More

DW909sleepnomore

Ouch, ouch, ouch, Mark Gatiss. I’ve always been a strong supporter of his episodes. I loved ‘The Unquiet Dead’ and I usually defend ‘The Idiot’s Lantern’, though mostly because of the fifties vibe. I think An Adventure in Space and Time is a superb piece -okay, that’s a movie, it doesn’t really count. ‘Robot of Sherwood’ got mixed reviews, and yet I enjoyed every second of it -I even got the Funko toy of the Doctor with the spoon! But ‘Sleep No More’, well… Continue reading

Doctor Who 9×08 Review: The Zygon Inversion

zygoninversionbox

Peter Capaldi has been the Doctor for almost two years now. I already thought he was brilliant at playing him, but, oh my, I think it is safe to say that ‘The Zygon Inversion’ is the episode in which I have finally realised that he IS the Doctor, because he left me speechless. Continue reading

Doctor Who 9×06 Review: The Woman Who Lived

capaldiwilliams906dw

I wish Maisie Williams were the Doctor’s companion. Wasn’t she superb in this episode? The chemistry between her and Peter Capaldi was superb, much better than that between him and Jenna Coleman these days -which I guess it is something they are forcing now that she is leaving the show. MCM Comic Con London October 2015

12175864_10156211524600707_395058812_o

MCM Comic Con London is always like an insane traffic jam full of people in costumes. Luckily, last edition back in May fixed this and the stalls were pretty well organised, separating the Manga from the comics and the TV/Film sections. But if I have one complaint about this fall edition,

Doctor Who 9×04 Review: Before the Flood

doctor-who-before-the-flood-capaldi

I love Doctor Who when its episodes are about paradoxes, about visiting themselves in the past and forcing themselves to change the future by doing something they told themselves to do (read: ‘Blink’, for instance). I knew the follow-up to ‘Under the Lake’ was going to go in that direction, and it did live up to its expectations. Continue reading

Classic Who Retrospective: The Romans

The-Romans barbara nero

When it comes to Doctor Who stories, my favourite ones are always those set in the past. There is something extremely enjoyable about the Doctor travelling to historical places, witnessing important events and sometimes even being the cause of them. Which is why I thought ‘The Romans’ was one of the best Hartnell serials so far. Continue reading

Doctor Who 9×03 Review: Under the Lake

Meet_the_cast_of_Doctor_Who_Under_The_Lake

Can I just start by saying that I liked ‘Under the Lake’ more than the opening two-part story of this series? It kept me over the edge of my seat the entire time, and by the time the splendid cliffhanger arrived, I hadn’t realised it had been 45 minutes already! Continue reading

Doctor Who 9×02 Review: The Witch’s Familiar

Oh, Davros, you cunning, wrinkly bastard. For a second there I felt sorry for you! But that is part of the beauty of Doctor Who. Continue reading

Doctor Who Series 9 Review: The Magician’s Apprentice

Well, that was quite a cliffhanger, wasn’t it? I, for one, didn’t see it coming, but it only made me look forward to next Saturday’s episode even more! What a start. Continue reading
